Stuart Lutz owns one of the largest and most important archives of Vietnam War materials in private hands. The collection consists of thousands of letters, photographs, books, bumperstickers, posters, leaflets, booklets, diaries and more. The artifacts include those of American servicemen and servicewoman, the great leaders of the conflict, the American pro-war and anti-war movements, North Vietnamese and South Vietnamese relics, military artifacs and much more.
Lutz has loaned his Vietnam War materials to the New-York Historical Society exhibit on the Vietnam War and the Victoria & Albert’s “You Say You Want A Revolution” worldwide exhibit on the Sixties. His artifacts have appeared in print media and books, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Smithsonian magazine. He has also written about the material culture of the Vietnam War and spoken on collecting the colorful, turbulent era.
Lutz began the archive over twenty years ago and he continues to acquire materials of all sorts – there is always something that he has not seen.
