Stuart Lutz is an expert in the appraisal and authentication of historic documents, letters, manuscripts and archives, and he buys and sells historic documents through his firm, Stuart Lutz Historic Documents, Inc. based in South Orange, New Jersey. He has always had an interest in the history of the Vietnam War and the Sixties, and he wrote his college senior thesis on the use of the flag in the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties. Lutz believes that the Vietnam War remains the most important and influential event in American history from 1950 to 2000. When he realized that there were few other collectors of such materials, he decided to fuse his interest in the Vietnam Era with his professional exposure to collectibles and created his Vietnam War archive. He also wants to preserve materials from this controversial period for future generations and historians.
Lutz has a B.A. in American history from The Johns Hopkins University. His first book, The Last Leaf: Stories of History’s Last Known Survivors was published by Prometheus Books. He is the on-air authenticator for the History Channel hit show Pawn Stars.
